PW Dance & Sportswear is run across three countries by two generations of the Thomas family. We are all focused on consistently providing the highest performing footwear and apparel for active performers. We know what drives you, we’ve been there, and our passion drives us to innovations delivering shoes and apparel to meet your highest performing needs. Our shoes and garments are manufactured in production houses owned and managed by our family. This allows us to control the production processes and maintain the highest quality, as well as enabling us the opportunity to offer a very comprehensive customising service.
Whether your chosen discipline is ballet, tap, jazz, ballroom, gymnastics, cheerleading or something else, we’re here to assist in meeting the needs of every active performer's unique requirement. We’re not about focusing on one thing or one discipline; we provide excellence in everything we do. PW Dance & Sportswear stores can be found in Australia and New Zealand. We also distribute our products to a number of other retailers and provide directions to dance schools. Vickie Thomas started by making competition leotards and swimwear for her four daughters. In 1991 she established Spratz in Napier, New Zealand, as demand for her quality products grew.
Since that time the business has grown from strength to strength and is now a multinational operation with retail stores across New Zealand and Australia. Vickie’s daughters, the young athletes who inspired the creation of the business, now work in the business, Rhiannon Thomas at the helm as New Zealand’s General Manager. Vickie’s passion and determination has seen production grow from her home, to a purpose built factory in Napier (the current New Zealand base, now triple its original size) to the manufacturing operation purchased in Indonesia. Throughout this time the family’s commitment to providing the highest quality standards has been unwavering with Vickie based in Indonesia to personally oversee production.
The company has changed through the years, with the Spratz brand now retired in favour of PW Dance & Sportswear. This is an evolution of the Paul Wright Dancewear brand gained when Vickie purchased world-renowned principal ballet dancer Paul Wright’s company, retail stores and shoe factory in 2006.
