PW Dance & Sportswear steps down as Official Dancewear Partner of Melbourne City Ballet
Since 2014 PW Dance & Sportswear (PW) and Melbourne City Ballet (MCB) have enjoyed a strong working partnership. Showing their belief in the startup company and commitment to the dance industry, PW entered into a partnership with MCB in their founding year and supported MCB’s vision to not only create more opportunities for performers, but for the wider community to experience ballet. PW has been an integral part of MCB’s journey and is proud to have stood beside them for the past five years.
As part of the partnership, PW has been the official dancewear provider for MCB, not only supplying a large number of core items such as tights and ballet shoes, but also customizing costumes for many of their productions. Along with its support of the main performing company PW has also been privileged to support programs such as Melbourne City Youth Ballet, Junior Extension Program, Elite Artists program and Finishing Year. However, as the new financial year approaches, PW has decided to not renew the partnership with MCB, preferring to continue to focus their support on up and coming artists.
PW currently supports nine artists across Australia and New Zealand through its PW Crew Ambassador Program. “The individual support offered through our ambassador program has enabled a number of extremely talented artists to have more opportunities and extend their training,” says PW founder Vickie Thomas. “As a mother supporting my own children through the early days of their gymnast training, I know how hard it can be to get to every class, every competition, and buy every new pair of shoes” continues Thomas. “Based on the success of our PW Crew we have made the decision to not renew our partnership with Melbourne City Ballet and instead use the previously allocated resources to further enhance the ambassador program and make it more accessible to others.”
